Comments:Published PDF date : Ming Wanli 1573-1620 Room 95 label text:PDF B618Bowl with figures and pierced openworkThis small porcelain bowl has roundels framing landscapes with openwork outside and inside with a figure scene. Potters at Jingdezhen used a wider range of figural subjects in the sixteenth century than in earlier times. Although most potters would have been illiterate, this increase in the diversity of figural scenes may indirectly be a response to the wider circulation of illustrated woodblock-printed stories, novels and plays written in the easier to understand vernacular, as opposed to classical, Chinese. The base carries a Wanli reign mark in underglaze blue.Porcelain with underglaze cobalt-blue and pierced openwork decorationJingdezhen, Jiangxi province 江西省, 景德鎮Ming dynasty, Wanli mark and period, AD 1573–1620 PDF B618 人物紋鏤空瓷碗這件小瓷碗外壁繪圓形開光內繪山水風景,間以鏤空,內部為人物場景。
