Porcelain bowl. Underglaze blue with wide band of scrolling magnolia flowers and leaves between parallel blue lines. Similar band around inside with central roundel with a stylised flower head in a double circle. There is an inscription on the base.

Daylilies are called 萱草 (xuancao), and are a rebus for many sons and grandsons. Arguably the emperor was more concerned with his succession in the later part of his reign and porcelains with decoration related to fertility and sons became more popular. He had only one surviving son who went on to succeed him to the throne as the Hongzhi emperor (AD 1488–1505).
