Period:Unknown Production date:3300BC-2200BC
Materials:jade
Technique:polished, drilled, pecked,
Dimensions:Length: 17.50 centimetres Width: 9.60 centimetres
Description:
Axe of creamy pink and light grey mottled stone with dark specks polished to a high gloss.
IMG
Comments:The axe is comparable to 317a but the cutting rim has been well sharpened with the sides having straight cut edges. Neolithic. This axe is fairly similar to the previous one, 317a(.3) although it is somewhat broader in proportion to its length, and it has a fine high polish. The cutting edge is rounded and sharpened; the straight sides have flat edges. The butt end is both roughly shaped and roughly finished. Its sloping edges probably helped with the hafting. A small hole is drilled from one side, and, as on 317.c, seems to have been pecked from the other. See Rawson 1995, p.175, cat.no.10.10.
