  • Description:
The edge of this celadon washing mouth turns outward into a fold. The inclined arc wall has a deep belly, flat bottom, and the center of the outsole is slightly concave inward. The cushion mark left by the firing of the bottom edge is clearly visible. There is no glaze around the cushion mark, and gray fetal bone is exposed. The whole body is covered with blue glaze, the glaze color is gray green, the glaze layer is thin and uniform, and light stains appear locally on the outer wall. In the early years of the Republic of China, before many archaeological evidences were found, this work was regarded as a work of Ru Kiln by experts in charge of investigation of the Qing Dynasty Aftermath Committee. Therefore, in the ink writing on the device, “Ru Kiln skims its mouth and washes a piece of fruit”, which may give a glimpse of the differences between the ceramic appreciation concepts of the past and the present. This Yueyao “secret color celadon wash” in the courtyard has a delicate and warm glaze, and its shape and end are similar to the celadon wash unearthed in the tombs of the Five Dynasties. Therefore, it can be regarded as a good tool used by the upper class of the Five Dynasties.
