“The Statue of the Grand Zhuangyan Temple in the Zhou Dynasty”, written in ink on a whole paper and mounted on a vertical axis, is 116cm in length and 55cm in width. Paper and ink should be considered as rubbings from the late Qing Dynasty to the early Republic of China. Untitled seal< Based on this, it can be inferred that the original stone is a statue monument. The upper part of the tablet is carved with a Buddha and two flanks of Bodhisattvas in the sun. The shape is simple and clumsy, and the clothing pattern is simple and ancient
The inscription on the statue in the lower right corner of the Buddha statue is in three lines, with a delimited grid, with about 16 characters in each line, a total of 47 characters. The text said, “Yongding was two years old on the 25th of July of the Wuyin Autumn Festival. Zhou Wenyou created a district of the Infinite Life Buddha for all disciples and all sentient beings in the Grand Zhuangyan Temple, and all disciples of the same surname dedicated themselves to providing sacrifices.”. In the narrow space above the first, second, and third columns, there are horizontally inscribed “disciples of all surnames”, “one heart offering”, and “infinite longevity Buddha”, with a total of 12 characters
“Yongding” is the name of Chen Baxian, the founding emperor of Chen in the Southern Dynasty. The second year of Yongding was 558 A.D. The reign of the Chen Dynasty was only 33 years old, and it was also a period of great social changes. Therefore, there were very few handed down documents on gold and stone. This stone is exquisitely carved, well preserved, and has never been recorded before, making it a rare treasure. However, the calligraphy on it is similar to the “Cuan Baozi Stele” erected in Qujing, Yunnan Province in the fourth year of the reign of Taiheng in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (405), which is inexplicable.
