The Pear Blossom Painting Axis, in modern times, is painted by Chen Shizeng in paper and ink, 56.8 centimeters vertically and 31.4 centimeters horizontally
The self title on the left side of the screen reads, “Jiao Yun is powerless to lean against the east of the wall, just below the branches to avoid the wind. diagonally across the window from you, a spring flower blooms and falls with a deep concentration. There is a pear flower in the residence, with a lovely load, which is portrayed in a small poem. Heng Ke.” The seal is “Heng Ke’s seal.”
This is a painting by Chen Shizeng of landscape painting, which selects a branch of pear flower and depicts it in pure ink. It is pure white, transparent, and refined. The flowers are circled with delicate ink lines, and the leaves are boneless, with alternating shades and distinct slices. Chen Shizeng’s flower and bird paintings have many vigorous strokes, while this one is soft and beautiful, quite reminiscent of the Fengshen of Huayan. The poem in the title is plain and naive, graceful and touching, revealing the painter’s love for nature and life between the lines.
