[Blue and White Double “Xi” Character Peach Bat Bowl]
Blue and White Double “Xi” Character Peach Bat Bowl, Xuantong, Qing Dynasty, 9 cm high, 21.1 cm caliber, 8.5 cm foot diameter. The old collection of the Qing Palace
The mouth is slightly tilted outward, the arc wall is curved, the feet are circled, and the inside of the foot is a six-character, double-line regular script with a blue and white script “made in the reign of the Emperor Xuantong of the Qing Dynasty.”. The outer wall of the bowl is decorated with blue and white flowers, and is painted with lotus patterns on tangled branches, with patterns of bats and peaches between them. Four groups of double happiness (“Double Happiness”) characters are symmetrically written
The decorative pattern of porcelain using the word “Double Happiness” appeared earlier in folk kilns. In the early Qing Dynasty, there were occasional discoveries of official kiln porcelain, which appeared in large numbers on official and civilian kiln porcelain after the mid Qing Dynasty. During the Tongzhi wedding, more than 6000 pieces of porcelain with this theme were fired. This bowl was fired in the first year of Xuantong (1909), according to records in the Qing Palace
