Huangdi Hongcai Kaiguang “Fulu Shouxi” Bowl, Tongzhi of the Qing Dynasty, with a height of 8 centimeters, a caliber of 13 centimeters, and a foot diameter of 6.3 centimeters
The bowl is straight and slightly open, with a deep belly and rounded feet. The mouth is decorated with gold color, the inner wall is painted with pink Ruyi cloud pattern and tangled branches gourd pattern on the red ground, and the outer belly is painted with yellow glaze brocade pattern. The ground is painted with red Ruyi cloud pattern. The theme pattern is four circular open lights, and the inner part is respectively divided into four regular script red characters: “Fu”, “Lu”, “Shou”, and “Xi”. Each character is surrounded by five bats and a week of Ruyi pattern, which means “five bats holding longevity”. The combination pattern of pen, ingot, and Ruyi is painted on the ground with yellow glaze on the outsole, implying that “Ruyi must be successful.”
This bowl is decorated with various patterns on the yellow glazed floor, highlighting the auspicious meaning. This is the common style of porcelain decoration in the Tongzhi, Guangxu, and Xuantong dynasties of the late Qing Dynasty. This bowl is a wedding utensil of Emperor Tongzhi.
