- Description:
This volume is an important early landscape figure painting, which depicts the early snow in the south of the Yangtze River, the bleak frost and the life of fishermen along the river. There are still travel on the shore, and the characters in the painting are subtle and vivid. The silk floor is dyed with light ink stains. The strokes are strong, and the trees and stones have yin and yang facing backs. Both the skill and the fine description are amazing. There is an inscription on the front of the volume, “Zhao Ganxiang, a student of Jiangxing Snow Painting Academy,” which was named after by later generations. Some scholars believe that this volume is consistent with the description of Wang Wei’s “Fishing Picture” in the Chicken Ribs Collection by Chao Buzhi of the Northern Song Dynasty, pointing out or related to Wang Wei who was known in the Northern Song Dynasty.
