[Hardwood inlaid stone handle mirror]
Hardwood inlaid stone handle mirror, late Qing Dynasty, with a total length of 29 centimeters. The old collection of the Qing Palace
The handle mirror is composed of a hardwood frame, a mirror handle, and a glass mirror. The glass mirror is oval shaped and embedded in a hardwood frame. The mirror frame is inlaid with hardwood rings, and is decorated with plum blossom, begonia flower, and flower leaf patterns composed of various gemstones such as pearls, rubies, tourmalines, and jadeite. The hardwood on the back of the mirror is inlaid with patterns such as butterflies, chrysanthemums, and grass. All the decorative patterns are embedded in the grooves hammered and chiseled by gold pieces, forming the effect of a golden ring edge. The colorful patterns inlaid in this mirror complement each other with antique hardwood.
