Ye Zhongsan’s glass lined snuff bottle with fish algae patterns has a height of 7.5 centimeters and a width of 5.8 centimeters
The smoking pot has a rounded shape, oval feet, and two sides are carved with animal faces and rings. The belly of the smoking pot is decorated with the same fish and algae patterns on both sides, allowing goldfish and carp to freely play. On one side, the upper left corner of the book reads, “Guimao Xia Fu Zuo in the capital”
This smoking pot was written by Ye Zhongsan, one of the three famous painters in Beijing in the late Qing Dynasty. According to the year of Ye’s birth and death, “Guimao” should be the 29th year of Guangxu’s reign in the Qing Dynasty (1903).
