Li Hongbin Gong’s End Stone Rectangle Inkstone is 17.5cm long, 11.8cm wide, and 2.4cm thick
The inkstone is made of stone with a light purple color, and its texture is delicate and warm. Natural textures such as “blue and white”, “rouge halo and fire suppression”, and “banana leaf white” in stone are pleasing to the eye. This inkstone hall is flat, and both the front and back sides can be researched and used. There is no additional ink pool for either side. The front pool frame is decorated with a retro lace, and the back has a plain edge. On the upper side of the front of the inkstone is engraved the eight characters “Imperial Sentences: The Quality of the Duan River Runs Strong” in the official script in Yin script. This is the sentence of Emperor Daoguang praising the beauty of the Duan inkstone. The back of the inkstone is engraved with the four characters “Huanhai Jingqing”, which symbolizes the state of Taiping. On the lower left side of the back of the inkstone, there are six characters engraved, “Courtesy made by Li Hongbin, a minister.”. The inkstone is embedded in a red sandalwood jade box
