Yixing Kiln Yang Pengnian Purple Sand Feihong Yannian Pot, Jiaqing of the Qing Dynasty, is 11 centimeters high, 8.5 centimeters in diameter, and 12.3 centimeters in foot diameter
The pot has a wide mouth, a curved shoulder, a short flow, a circular handle, a full belly, a wide flat bottom, and shallow circular feet. Purple red sand mud. On one side of the abdomen is engraved the official script “Yannian Pot”, and on the other side is engraved the running script “Hung chien is in the diet, and the diet is derived. It is a tool of Sang Ju Weng, which is not well known.” It is inscribed with the inscription “Man Sheng Zhi Hou Ming”. The seal character “Peng Nian” in Yangwen is engraved inside the cover. The bottom of the pot is embossed with flying geese, and the seal characters “Yan” and “Nian” are carved on both sides of the geese’s neck
The Yannian pot is one of the 18 pot styles created jointly by Chen Mansheng and Yang Pengnian, known as the “Feihong Yannian pot”
In the year of Yang Pengnian (1772-1854), he was active during the Qianlong, Jiaqing, and Daoguang periods of the Qing Dynasty, and was the most influential purple sand teacher of the generation at that time. His pot style design pursues cultural connotations, often collaborating with literati to write poems and paintings, and countless later generations have followed suit.
