The Zhishuizhai is located in the east of Jide Hall, the rear hall of the Yuqing Palace, and is the name of the study of Emperor Jiaqing. Emperor Jiaqing once said, “If you don’t know the amount of the library, you will find the name of the Bao’s library along the city of Hangzhou.” Knowing the name of this library is directly taken from the name of the Bao Shi Gong Library in Zhejiang Province. However, Emperor Jiaqing had his own understanding of “insufficient knowledge”. In the 20th year of Jiaqing’s reign (1815), the 24 volumes of the “Knowledge Deficiency Zhai Series” edited by the Bao family were circulated for prohibition. Emperor Jiaqing saw it and ordered his ministers to say, “Recently, I have read the Bao family’s series, which is also known as the Knowledge Deficiency Zhai. Therefore, the Bao family should not change its name. My emperor’s family lacks knowledge, and the Bao family is a scholar who does not know enough.” This Zhai was also an important venue for activities in the early days of Emperor Jiaqing’s succession
