The imperial bow used by the emperor is clear, with a length of 145 centimeters and a maximum width of 25 centimeters. The old collection of the Qing Palace
The bow is made of wood, the tread is pasted with ox horns, and then reinforced with rib glue. The exterior is covered with gold peach skin, decorated with a yellow diamond pattern. The bow is a hyperbolic arch shape, with a horn cushion string (which has fallen off) disposed at the tip. A piece of warm wood is inlaid in the middle of the bow for easy grasping. The bow string is made of cow tendons and wrapped with silk thread
In the Qing Dynasty, riding and archery were regarded as the long skills of the Manchu people. Bows were essential for military and hunting, and were one of the most important weapons. This bow was used by Emperor Qianlong when he was hunting in Beishou, and the horn of the ox was engraved with Chinese characters: “In the 22nd year of Qianlong’s reign, he led the surrender of Junggar to all the people in Mulanxing, surrounded by a treasure bow, and shot a tiger in the Yimianhuoluo paddock.”
