Shiqingdi Blissful World Weaving Brocade Map Axis is made of silk, woven from Suzhou, with a length of 448 centimeters and a width of 196.3 centimeters. The old collection of the Qing Palace
This axis is a woven brocade based on the work of Ding Guanpeng, a painter from the Qing Dynasty, and the content is based on the theme of “Changes in the Pure Land of the West”. This brocade weaving process is extremely complex and requires three or four people to operate at the same time. Using long-distance shuttle technology, more than 20 kinds of colored silk and round gold threads are woven onto the canvas like painting colors, and the contours are woven with fine threads. In the picture, there are 278 Buddhist figures, such as pavilions, pavilions, palaces, banners, and Amitabha Buddha, decorated with flowing clouds, trees, and flowers. The characters have clear faces, vivid expressions, soft and elegant clothing, and smooth lines, which are like meticulous painting, fully reflecting the artistic style of the original painting and the superb level of Suzhou brocade weaving technology in the early Qianlong period
This painting was once hidden in the Hall of Nourishing the Heart and the Palace of Qianqing, and bears seals such as “Treasure of the Emperor Qianlong’s Imperial View”, “Appreciation of the Emperor Qianlong”, “Precise Seal of the Sanxi Hall”, “Emperor Tai Shang”, “Treasure of the Eight Symbols and Eight Concepts”, “Suitable for Descendants”, “Redesign of the Pearl Forest”, “New Compilation of the Secret Hall”, “Treasure of the Emperor Xuantong’s Imperial View”, “Treasure of the Palace of Qianqing’s Imperial View”, and other seals. It is an important physical material for studying the techniques of weaving brocade and Buddhist art in the Qing Dynasty.
