[Tian Huangshi Qianlong Emperor Triple Seal]

Tian Huangshi Qianlong Emperor Triple Seal, left “Qianlong Chen Han”, square, height 1 cm, side length 2.6 cm; “Lotte” in the middle, oval shape, 1 cm in height, 3 cm in length and 2.3 cm in short diameter; On the right, it is a “unique and unique” square with a height of 1cm and a side length of 2.6cm
This seal was engraved by Emperor Qianlong of the Emperor Gaozong of the Qing Dynasty when he was the emperor. It is carved from a fairly large piece of Tian Huang stone. The tripartite printing chain is connected together
The words “unique and unique” and “optimistic” in the imperial seal are derived from Confucian classics. In the early days of Qianlong, there were many seals with the words “unique and unique”, often used together with the words “Feng San selfless” and “Qianlong Chen Han”. “Only the essence and uniqueness” comes from the “Shangshu Dayu Mo”: “The human heart is only in danger, the Tao is only in a small mind, only the essence and uniqueness, and one is allowed to speak out.” That is, danger is difficult to be safe, while small is difficult to understand, so it is necessary to keep one’s precepts with the essence and one’s faith in them. Qianlong used this to demonstrate his political ideology. The meaning of “Joy in Heaven” is derived from the Book of Changes: “Joy in Heaven and Knowing Destiny, So Don’t Worry.” The meaning is “Joy in Heaven, Understanding Things is always a constant of knowing one’s life, Understanding Nature and Life is always the principle of nature, So Don’t Worry.”
The seal cutting methods of these three seals are different from the layout of the seal text. The “Qianlong Chenhan” is a Yangwen seal carving, with a traditional standard layout and layout. “Le Tian” is also in Yangwen, with two characters centered in the middle, and the left and right sides are decorated with dragon patterns, making the seal surface dynamic. This combination of characters and paintings is a legacy of the Han seal. “Wei Jing Uniqueness” is a type of Yin character seal cutting, in which the printed text is in the form of private seal printing in the Han Dynasty, arranged in a Hui grammar. Staggering the same two “Wei” characters and lengthening the upper end of the two characters is to achieve a full, symmetrical, harmonious and beautiful effect on the entire printed surface
This triplet seal is highly favored among the thousands of small seals of Emperor Qianlong, and will be highly valued by emperors in the future. Pu Yi, Emperor Xuantong of the late Qing Dynasty, took this seal with him when he was expelled from the palace and stayed with him until 1950, when he handed it over to the Imperial Palace Museum in Beijing for collection
