Royal Blue Satin Colorful Embroidery Flat Gold Cloud Dragon Pattern Gown, embroidered in Suzhou during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, with a body length of 142 centimeters and two sleeves with a total length of 192 centimeters
The court robe is a horseshoe sleeve style with a shawl and a twisted lapel on the right side, with a section of stone blue satin plain sleeve, lining the white moon with small tangled branches and dark flower satin lining. The shawl is embroidered with two dragons playing with pearls. The theme of the imperial robe is decorated with cloud and dragon patterns. The body decoration of the robe is composed of a combination of cloud dragon and persimmon stem patterns. A total of 43 dragon patterns are embroidered on the front chest, back, shoulders, waist curtains, lapel, bottom placket, hem, and sleeve ends, namely the main dragon, group main dragon, and walking dragon. The center of the dragon on the front chest and back is embroidered with a dark eight immortals holding longevity and a sea water river cliff pattern, with five colored flowing clouds between them. The whole body is listed in twelve chapters. The dragon pattern of the imperial robe is embroidered using a flat gold needle method, while other embroidery patterns use more than 10 types of needle methods, such as needle sets, oblique winding needles, and gold thread stitching. The whole body of the imperial robe is inlaid with one layer of gold satin edge with a stone blue dragon miscellaneous treasure pattern, and one layer of tricolor gold edge is nailed. This imperial robe should have been worn by Emperor Qianlong when he was praying for the rain in the southern suburbs. Its embroidery is exquisite, with evenly twisted gold threads, flat gold, fine stitches, rich and magnificent colors, and ease of color fading. It is the finest imperial robe embroidered in Suzhou during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty.
