The yardstick is made of red sandalwood and inlaid with three pieces of jade. The jade is a plain white jade with a slight tinge. The surrounding area of the scale is decorated with antique patterns such as silver silk taotie and Kui patterns. The bottom edge is inlaid with a silver silk echo pattern around it. At the bottom, the official script “moisten with rigidity and square with the study room” is engraved in yin, and filled with gold powder. Under it, the seal characters “dry” and “long” are engraved, one round and one square
