Wear a double breasted jacket with wide sleeves and a train that opens back. Stone blue satin ground, woven with colored weft silk. This coat is decorated with 8 groups of Kui dragon flower patterns, and each shoulder is decorated with a group of Kui dragon Goulian Shoushou character patterns. The group pattern is composed of symmetrical Kui dragons in the shape of a wishful head, with cloud bats, chrysanthemums, magnolias, Goulian, embroidered beads, pomegranates, sunflowers, osmanthus, peonies, plum blossoms, daffodils, and okra among other folded flowers. The lower landscape features multiple combinations of auspicious patterns, such as “Spirit Immortals Wishing Birthday”, “Cranes and Deers in the Same Spring”, “Harmony and Two Joys”, “Ten Thousand Years of Happiness”, “Years of Surplus”, “Three Happiness and Longevity”, and “Shoushan and Fuhai”
Among these auspicious patterns, clouds are woven into flat water to dig and weave eight groups of folded flowers. There are 14 colors of the color weft, such as jujube red, pink, gouache, green, yellow-green, turmeric, golden yellow, blue, moon white, lake color, and light blue. The use of inter halo, double halo, and triple halo color matching methods, as well as deep to light and light to deep fade halo methods, results in rich colors, lively patterns, rigorous and symmetrical composition, and strong decorative properties. This is a masterpiece of makeup fabric in the mid Qing Dynasty. According to the “Current Regulations in the Imperial Palace”, this should be a lucky coat worn by noble people during festivals
The neckline is decorated with ink and yellow paper stickers. The front side reads: “Presented for viewing on the 21st day of the 14th year of Qianlong’s reign”, and the back side reads: “A multicolored and eight regimented floral gown woven of stone blue satin”
