[Small pot with spray pattern]
Small pot with spray pattern, Qing Qianlong, height 18.8 cm, width 9.8 cm
The small pot has a round body, a long drum belly, four rings on the shoulder, and encircles the feet. The shoulders and lower abdomen are decorated with banana leaf patterns, and the abdomen is decorated with two circles of wave patterns. The foot outsole has a “Qianlong Year System” four-character design
This pot was made during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty in imitation of a bronze pot from the Warring States period. During the Warring States period, bronze pots were of various shapes, with round pots generally having extravagant mouths, necks, belly drums, and high rounded feet. Compared with the round pot in the Warring States Period, the small pot with spray pattern has little difference in shape, but the sea water picture on the body of the pot is very vivid and has distinctive characteristics of the times
This pot is made of delicate copper and is finely cast. It should be made at the Palace of the Qing Dynasty. Emperor Qianlong was so ancient that the Qing Palace Building Office created many bronze objects to admire and play with.
