Qianlong style light yellow glazed cover box, Qing Qianlong style, with a total height of 12cm, a caliber of 18cm, and a foot diameter of 10.6cm
The box is circular in shape, with the upper and lower female mouths fitted together, forming a full circle. Attached is an umbrella shaped cover with a shallow stepped surface and a jewel shaped button on top. The box is divided into seven compartments in the shape of petals. White glaze is applied to the inner wall and inside the ring foot. The outer wall is painted with light yellow glaze. On the outsole, there are six characters and three lines in blue and white seal script “made in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty”
The carcass of this box is slightly thick, and the glaze surface is slightly uneven. The yellow glaze is elegant and pleasant
Light yellow glazed porcelain was created and fired during the Yongzheng period, and its colorant was antimony oxide. Its glaze color is lighter than that of traditional cast yellow glaze with iron oxide as colorant, so it is named. Also known as “egg yolk glaze” due to its light and elegant glaze color resembling egg yellow. “Tao Cheng Ji Shi” refers to it as “Western Yellow”.
