Xiangsheng Porcelain Mountain

[Xiangsheng Porcelain Mountain]

Xiangsheng Porcelain Mountain, Qianlong, Qing Dynasty, is 6 centimeters high, 12.3 centimeters long, and 4 centimeters wide
The mountains imitate the shape of natural peaks, with staggered heights. The color also imitates the natural mountain color, which is made by firing a white body first, then applying glaze color and baking it at low temperature. The bottom is engraved with a single line of six characters in regular script from right to left, which reads “Snail Send Home Scholar Qingyu”
The snail hermit is the name of Tang Ying, a famous pottery inspector in the Qing Dynasty. This piece of Shanzi should be a study utensil made by Tang Ying himself. From the sixth year of Yongzheng to the twenty-first year of Qianlong’s reign, he was responsible for overseeing the kiln work of the imperial kiln factory in Jingdezhen, and was well versed in pottery theory. During his tenure, he personally supervised the ceramic industry, creating and firing many exquisite ceramic products, especially porcelain that imitated other types of handicrafts, achieving marvelous and realistic artistic effects
This piece of mountain was donated by Mr. Zhang Zihou.
