Red sandalwood inlaid with jade and the Eight Diagrams of Ruyi is 40.3 centimeters long
This Ruyi red sandalwood is made of white jade ornaments embedded in the head, midsection, and tail of Ruyi. The body of Ruyi handle red sandalwood is inlaid with eight trigrams patterns in gold. The front side has four trigrams, namely, dry, ridge, gen, and shock. The back side has four trigrams, namely, Dui, Kun, Li, and Xun. In the middle of the back, there is an inscription inscribed in the shade with the words “Fu Rong Rui Ji De Ke Yi”
Red sandalwood inlaid with jade and the Eight Diagrams of Ruyi is a typical work among the three inlays of Ruyi inlaid with ancient jade in the mid Qing Dynasty. The jade ornament “Hai Dong Qing Yu Swan” embedded in its handle is a famous “Spring Water” jade from the Liao and Jin dynasties, which is extremely rare and delicate. The handle is inlaid with gold pieces of eight trigrams symbols, adding a mysterious beauty to the object.
