[Yellow Shouchun Chart Round Box]

Yellow Shouchun Chart Round Box, mid Qing Dynasty, 12.5 cm high, 32.3 cm caliber. The old collection of the Qing Palace
The box is round, with a slightly raised lid and low circular feet. The whole body is painted in yellow paint, and the cover is decorated with a circular light opening. The inside is carved with a square pattern of brocade with the character “Swastika”. A treasure bowl is carved, with a myriad of rays curling out from the inside, and a huge “Spring” character is supported on the top. The character “Spring” has a circular light opening. The inside text deer accompanies the birthday star to sit under the pine tree, meaning “Spring Shou”. The character “Spring” is surrounded by two dragons on both sides. The lid and the wall each have four diamond-shaped openings, with a cloud pattern inside as the ground, and a pattern of eight treasures consisting of a wheel, a snail, an umbrella, a lid, a lotus flower, a jar, a fish, and a plate length is embossed. The exterior is carved with square patterns of brocade and embossed with auspicious miscellaneous treasure patterns. The inside and bottom of the box are painted with black paint, without payment
The shape and decorative pattern of this box are similar to the Ming Dynasty Jiajing carved lacquer “Tiaocai Chunshou character round box”, and it is a representative work of imitating Jiajing carved lacquer in the mid Qing Dynasty. However, the artistic style of this box is significantly different from that of Jiajing carved lacquer. Not only does the image of the dragon have the characteristics of a dragon pattern in the middle of the Qing Dynasty, but the carving of the knife is powerful, swift, sharp, and accurate, with few flaws, which is beyond the reach of Jiajing carved lacquer
