[Hanging screen with hammer painting enamel landscape pavilions]
Hanging screen with hammer painting enamel landscape pavilions, mid Qing Dynasty, 110 cm long and 76 cm wide. The old collection of the Qing Palace
The hanging screen is a pair of copper tires. The production method is to first hammer the outline of a pattern using the metal hammer technique, and then use the enamel painting process to decorate the surface. The landscape trees, pavilions, towers, and pavilions in the screen, the cranes in the clouds, and the singing of deer on the ground constitute an auspicious picture that implies “the cranes and deer share the same spring” and “the pines and cranes prolong the year”. This screen has a three-dimensional effect due to the use of hammer embryo enamel technology
