[Honey Wax Bergamot Bonsai]
Honey Wax Bergamot Bonsai, made in Suzhou during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, has a total height of 56cm, a basin height of 16.7cm, and a basin diameter of 29cm
Paint an enamel rhombus flower-shaped basin with peony patterns painted on the deep and shallow lake blue ground on the outer wall. The main scenery on the basin is a bergamot tree, agaric wood branches, golden stamens, white jade flowers, and honey wax bergamot. The trees are lined with roses, orchids, and grasses. Rose flowers use copper as their branches and leaves, with gold-plated stems and blue leaves. They use colored materials and coral as their petals, and hibiscus stone as their buds. The panorama is vivid and quite similar to real flowers
“Buddha’s Hand”, which is homophonic to “Fu Shou”, is a widely used theme in handicrafts in the Qing Dynasty. This bonsai is finely crafted and quite ingenious, reflecting the level of craftsmanship in Suzhou’s Xiangsheng bonsai production during the Qianlong period.
