Zhang Jia Ruobi Duoji (1717-1786) is the third generation of Zhang Jia. Zhang Jia is one of the four major living Buddha systems of the Yellow Sect in the Qing Dynasty. Ruobi Duoji is mainly responsible for religious affairs in Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Beijing and other places. He is proficient in the four ethnic languages of Han, Manchu, Mongolian and Tibetan, and has a good understanding of the Buddhist classics. He is a knowledgeable Buddhist. Zhang Jia, the third generation, not only wrote a lot in his life, but also made great contributions to the consolidation of the frontier and the implementation of the national and religious policies during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, and inherited the title of “Great Patriarch of Universality and Mercy”
In the middle of the picture is Zhang Jia, an old man of three generations, dressed in yellow king’s clothing, which shows his noble status as a great national teacher during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. In the middle of the upper part is the Buddha of Infinite Life, on the left is Dawei, and on the right is the second Zhangjia. From the bottom left of the screen are the Devil of the Fallen, the Six Arm Protection Method and the auspicious Mother of Heaven
There is white silk on the back of the Thangka, and the inscription in Chinese, Manchu, Mongolian and Tibetan characters: “On December 26, the Emperor ordered the painting of Buddha and Lama in the main hall of the Central Hall of the Emperor Qianlong’s reign to worship the interests of the portrait of Zhang Jiahu and Tuk……”. This Thangka was painted by the Buddha and Lama in the Palace of Life by Emperor Qianlong to commemorate the death of the third generation of Zhang Jiayuan.
