Sangjiegongba (1160-1229) is a famous monk in the inheritance system of Kagawa Khinpo of the Kadang Sect, and is famous for practicing the Great Handprint. In the middle of the Thangka is Sangjie Gongba, wearing a yellow monk’s hat, leaning forward slightly, looking at the lower left, and making the mark by hand. On the upper left of the picture is the founder of the Kardang Sect, Adi Gorge, on the upper right is the Medicine Master Buddha, and on the lower left is the Great Black God. The background is picturesque, the blue sky and white clouds are clearly colored, especially the fine lines of the cassocks and peonies in full bloom painted in fine brushwork are symmetrical, neat and meticulous, and magnificent with gorgeous mounting. The Tibetan inscription in front of the lotus seat is: “Wonderful Way Achieves Zen Meditation Buddha.” There is a white silk sign on the back of the Thangka, which is written in the four-body inscription of the Han, Manchu, Mongolian and Tibetan languages. The Chinese text is: “On the sixth day of March, the 26th year of Qianlong’s reign, the emperor ordered Zhang Jiahu Tuke to recognize the origin of the Dalai Lama. The third axis on the left”.
