Amitabha Thangka, 18th century, Tibet, cloth, color, 139 cm high, 87 cm wide, 78 cm vertical and 52 cm horizontal. The old collection of the Qing Palace
The main statue is the Buddha of Infinite Life, with two hands holding the Dharma seal, wearing a bodhisattva costume, with three grandfathers painted on the top, such as Lianhuasheng, Zongkaba and Adixia, surrounded by more than 200 Buddha of Infinite Life, whose body shape is the same as the main statue, but the size is different. This Thangka is made of gold. The Buddha is blue except for eyebrows, hair and eyes. The lips and kisses are in deep infrared. The rest are painted with red lines. It has a unique form and presents a magnificent and shining picture effect. The painting is framed with gold brocade outside and covered with red brocade inside. The binding form and color of the picture are harmonious and unified, highlighting the unique aesthetic orientation of the Jin and Tang dynasties
On the back of the Thangka is written the seed character and Tibetan prayer, the meaning of which is: “May you have good luck! May the light of the statue of Infinite Life Buddha shine on the sun of auspicious Buddhism, invincible, dispel all darkness, and live forever! Good luck! Good!”
