This is one of the hand-held Vajra Bodhisattva Thangka combinations. The holding Vajra Bodhisattva, also known as Vajra Hand, is said to be the secret incarnation of Sakyamuni Buddha. There are nine kinds of transfiguration, which are the honorable shape of the Buddha when he preaches the secret law, so it is also called the secret master. In general, there are two types of holding Vajra Bodhisattva: silence and anger. As a symbol of subjugation, anger is the most common image in the later stage. The holding Vajra shows many features due to the different inheritance of religious codes. This holding Vajra Bodhisattva is named “Red Angry Vajra Hand” in Tibetan. It belongs to the Vajra deity, and its body should be mostly blue. The red Vajra painted in this picture is not common. The red slightly angry holding Vajra Bodhisattva is burning red, with three eyes wide open, wide mouth fangs, red hair standing like flame, and an extremely powerful image. Hold the five-cobalt diamond pestle on the right arm, and hold the diamond rope in the left hand when the chest knot. Standing on the left, wearing a tiger skin skirt at the waist, and wrapped with snakes around the body. On the upper left of the picture is the picture of the fourth Panchen Lama, Lausanne Qijian Zan, and on the upper right is the picture of the founder of the Yellow Sect
On the back of the Thangka, there is a white silk label, which is inscribed in four characters of Han, Manchu, Mongolian and Tibetan in ink. The Chinese text is: “On the seventh day of August in the forty-fifth year of Qianlong’s reign, the Panchen Erdeni entered the Danshuk to worship the benefit portrait holding Vajra Bodhisattva… the first on the right”.
