Amitabha is the leader of the Western Blissful World, which is called by Buddhism. He recites his name and can be reborn in the Blissful World after death, so he is also called “Jieyin Buddha” and “Infinite Life Buddha”. This Thangka depicts the Western Blissful Pure Land where Amitabha lives. In addition to using a large amount of gold, the picture also uses red as the main matching color to form a strong color contrast. Amitabha is in the middle of the picture. He is sitting on the lotus platform with his arms folded, holding a bowl in both hands. Zongkaba and his two disciples, Dharmapala and Bodhisattva are placed above the Lord. In the dark blue sky at the top, colorful clouds are swirling, and the Buddha, Bodhisattva, and Kabuki bands are driving on the clouds. The sound of fairy music is flying in the sky. On the left and right sides of the Lord Buddha are the Great Power Bodhisattva and the Avalokitesvara. Amitabha, in front of him is the lotus in the treasure pool, where the believers of reincarnation are kneeling; All kinds of strange birds fly in the forest. At the bottom of the picture are the auspicious Heavenly Mother, the six-arm brave protection law, the treasure Big Black Sky and the King of Hell
This Thangka is embroidered with the picture of the blissful world on the natural color satin, and the embroidery thread is set with color to remove the halo. It adopts the embroidery techniques of flat embroidery, loose needle, nail thread, winding needle, and the combination of plain gold and money. Although the patterns on the picture are small and complex, they are all embroidered carefully and clearly. On the back of the Thangka, there is a white silk label with a four-body inscription in Han, Manchu, Mongolian and Tibetan characters, in which the Chinese text reads: “The benefit of the embroidered image of Amitabha bliss…”.
