The Tibetan name of this Avalokitesvara is “Black Avalokitesvara”. The Lord stood on the throne of the sun lotus with a black body, five sides and twelve arms, a skull crown on his head, red hair and flame. The right hand holds a drum, the right hand holds a skeleton stick, the right hand holds a diamond hook, the right hand holds a rope, the right hand holds a diamond pestle, and the right hand holds an arrow; The left hand 1 holds the mark, the left hand 2 holds the gabala bowl, the left hand 3 holds the lotus, the left hand 4 holds the mani bead, the left hand 5 holds the wheel, and the left hand 6 holds the bow. The upper bound is Vajra Yongzhi and Yuezhuang Bodhisattva, and the lower bound is Baigeza. On the back of the Thangka, there is a white silk label, inscribed with a four-body inscription in Han, Manchu, Mongolian and Tibetan. The Chinese text reads: “On the seventh day of August, the forty-fifth year of Qianlong’s reign, Panchen Erdeni went into Danshuk to worship the benefit portrait of Avalokitesvara. The second from the right”. This hall of Avalokitesvara Thangka is composed of nine axes and is now complete. Each god in the picture has a Tibetan name under it, and the time and location are marked on the white silk label on the back.
