Blue and white underglaze red “Blessed Lord, Blessed Minister” pen holder, Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, 16.2 cm in height, 19.4 cm in diameter and 19.2 cm in foot diameter
The pen holder is barrel shaped, straight wall, mouth and foot size are similar, and the bottom foot is jade wall shaped. The inside and outside are painted with white glaze, and the outer wall is written with the blue and white regular script “Ode to the Sage and the Sage”, and the end is sealed with the form of writing in the underglaze red seal script “The Legend of the Western Dynasty”, a four-character double-line payment, and a single square box payment on the outside. The characters are neat and clear. The bottom center is painted with white glaze, and the blue and white regular script “made in Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty” is printed in three lines of six characters
The “Ode to the Sage” was written by Wang Bao, a Shu native of the Han Dynasty, in response to the edict of Liu Xun, Emperor Xuandi of the Han Dynasty. Because of his praise, the emperor immediately promoted the doctor. This article appeared on the pen holder during the Kangxi period, reflecting the Emperor Kangxi’s attention to the Han culture.
