Jade pei pendent in the shape of a bird, late Hongshan culture (c. 4500-3000 BCE)

  • Image Number: Jewelry
  • Material:mineral/jade jewelry/hornblende
  • Description:. This is the most typical bird shaped pendant of Hongshan Culture. When you look at it suddenly, you will think that the textured side is the back of the bird. After comparative analysis, it is confirmed that the textured side depicts the positive image of a bird standing on a branch with two claws. Clamped in the middle of the wings, the two shallow square projections above the tail feathers are the two claws held together. The tunnel hole above the bird’s back has swirl marks, and the hole edge has abrasion marks after being hung for a long time.
