  The foreign figures in the painting have high forehead and deep eyes, and hold rare foreign objects in their hands. They stream from right to left. This painting should depict the historical event of paying tribute to the Tang Empire by the three envoys of Boli, Luocha and Linyi in the fifth year of Zhenguan (June 31). The dramatic shapes of the characters in the painting illustrate the narrative style of “documentary” and “imagination” in the Gongtu.
