Wu Changshuo’s magnolia map axis

[Wu Changshuo’s magnolia map axis]

The magnolia map axis, painted by Wu Changshuo in the Qing Dynasty, paper version, colored, 174.8 cm vertically and 47.5 cm horizontally
The picture depicts the scene of magnolia blooming on the rocks. The white magnolia and the ink-stained rocks form a strong contrast between black and white, relying on each other. Orchid and stone are painted with the strokes of gold, stone and seal. The thick and spicy ink is integrated into the simple and wild freehand flower-and-bird painting pattern, creating a beautiful effect of “bold and fragrant”, which is reflected with the vigorous and powerful calligraphy in the picture. This painting should be a good combination of poetry, calligraphy and painting
The signature of the payment: “The wooden pen is used to record the years, and Changshuo.”. At the bottom right is a five-character poem: “The wind blows and the shadow is exquisite, and the curtain opens and the snow does not melt. The color suspicion comes to Sichuan, and the light wants to seize the Toad Palace. The clouds return late at night, and there is no time for jade casting. The green lotus is really scheming, and the greed bestows on the mouse Gu Hong. In the Youyou summer and April, Anji Wu Junqing.” The seal is “Cangweng” and “Guzhang”
“Jiyou” is the first year of Xuantong (1909), and the author was 66 years old
