The Mountain and Water Map Axis of Imitating Taoist Plum, Qing Dynasty, Wang Yuanqi’s painting, paper, ink, 94 cm in length and 53.1 cm in width
This picture reads: “On the spring day of the fifth lunar month of the Kangxi reign, the Changchunyuan Zhilu imitates the plum Taoist pen. Wang Yuanqi. “Wang Yuanqi seal” white seal and “Lutai” Zhu seal are stamped under the seal
On the upper left of this picture is Wang Hui’s title: “When I visited the capital with Mr. Lu Tai, every time I saw the lines breaking through the back of the paper, I realized that the charm of heaven was full of vitality, and my heart was broken. Although this frame imitates Zhonggui, the charm and position of Dong Jusan’s style are really vulgar and elegant, which can be said to be superb. There is no comparison between those who painted green and red in the other world. Wang Hui’s title of the history of farming smoke is under the south window of the Xishuang Pavilion.” The next seal is “Wang Hui’s seal” white seal, and “Shi Guzi” Zhu seal
In the lower right corner of this picture is the seal of “descendants of Xilu”
The “Renwu” in the entertainment is the forty-first year of Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty (1702), when Wang Yuanqi was 61 years old
Wang Yuanqi said that this painting imitates the painting method of Wu Zhen, a famous painter of the Yuan Dynasty (that is, Taoist Mei). However, its beautiful and vigorous brush and ink, and the composition method of scattered mountains are different from the handed down landscape painting of Wu Zhen, which is “green and wild, with the wind under the forest”. It presents more of the style of Dong Yuan and Juran in the Song Dynasty. Therefore, Wang Hui also said in the title that this picture “acquired Dong Ju Samadhi”. This picture was painted by Wang Yuanqi during his term of office as “Changchunyuan Zhilu” in the capital, and is the representative work of his artistic maturity
