The fan page has its own title: “Shu sincerely draws.” The seal is “Shu” in white and “Guxiang” in red
It is known from Jiang Tingxi’s ink inscription on the fan, “Abundance and Joy. The fan was given on May 4, the third year of Yongzheng’s reign, and she was asked to write this”. This picture was painted by Jiang Shu on the white fan given by Emperor Yongzheng in the third year of Yongzheng’s reign (1725). The picture shows two sparrows happily standing on the ears of wheat representing a bumper harvest to symbolize the peace of the country and the peace of the people. Jiang Shuyun created auspicious paintings by means of symbolism, eulogizing the political purity of Emperor Yongzheng, which seemed to have a bright political color, surpassing the realm of general boudoir painters expressing their personal feelings with flower-and-bird paintings. The sparrow in the picture is lively, and it is interesting to look up and down. Ears of wheat are realistic and meticulous, which shows the author’s rigorous creative attitude
