In the lower left of the picture, read “Written by Yangzhou Luopin”. The next seal is “a portrait of an unusual person”. There are poems written by Zuo Zongtang, Kang Youwei and others on the painting and poetry hall. Deng Yizhe, a descendant of Deng Shiru, once collected it
Deng Yan (1743-1805), who was born in Huaining, Anhui Province, is a famous seal carver in the middle of the Qing Dynasty, known as “Deng School” and good at calligraphy. In the fifty-fifth year of Qianlong’s reign (1790), on the occasion of Emperor Qianlong’s 80th birthday, Cao Wen, the secretary of the Ministry of Household, entered Kyoto in June and invited Deng Shiru to go with him. In autumn, passing through Shandong, we climbed Mount Taishan to see. After entering Beijing, Deng Shiru was famous for his calligraphy
Deng Shiru once wrote the poem “Climbing Dai”: “The Dai rank is lofty and lofty, and the lofty and lofty, and the ape is very tall. There is no limit but the sky is close, and it is not as high as a person’s feet. After a while, the clouds and smoke lose Qilu, and the mountains and the children of Cao are added. The rock is not surprised by the wind and dust, and the world is covered with cloth robes.” (“The poem of Man of White Mountain”) The picture is the artistic conception of this poem. Take a corner of the peak of the Sun View, and under the cliff, the clouds and smoke are shrouded. In this view, Deng Shiru thinks a thousand things. The painter deeply revealed Deng’s mood at that time in the picture, so he was regarded as a treasure by Deng Shiru. It is recorded in the “Poems of the Man of the White Mountain” that “Yu (Deng Shiru) and the two peaks met in the capital. The two peaks wrote the” Ascending Daitu “because of the seal character.” The seal mentioned in the article is the “portrait of the unusual person” in the picture, which shows the deep friendship between the two people
This picture of the mountain is free and easy to use, and the moss is dotted with thick ink in the light ink chapped dye. The flowing clouds and the protruding rocks set off each other, making the mountain dynamic. The figure painting method has Jinnong’s brushwork. The head is large and slightly exaggerated, but the depiction is fine. The calmness of the figure’s demeanor contrasts with the movement of the scenery, highlighting the charm and mood of the figure, and showing the artist’s concise painting skills.
