Jade Tianji Smoker

[Qingyu Tianji Fumigation Furnace]

Qingyu Tianji Fumigation Furnace, clear, 9.7 cm high, 6.5 cm caliber, 6.5 cm foot diameter
The smoker is carved from sapphire and is in the shape of a round pot. There are three Tianji at an equal distance outside the smoker. Tianji stands upright with its head raised, its wings open, and its back is close to the furnace body. The smoke outlet cover of the fumigation furnace has a round 16-hole jade sheet, and the foot has 3 through-holes for wearing. The “Qianlong Year” seal script is engraved on the foot and filled with gold
The earliest record of Tianji is found in the Xuanzhong Records of Guo Pu of Jin Dynasty: “There is Taodu Mountain in the southeast, and there is a big tree named ‘Taodu’. The branches are three thousand miles away. There is a Tianji on it. At the beginning of the day, when the light shines on the wood, the Tianji crows, and the flocks of chickens crow with it.”
This fumigation furnace can be used not only for furnishings, but also for burning incense in the furnace to freshen the indoor air.
