[Minzhen Banana Maiden Painting Axis]
Banana Maiden Painting Axis, Qing Dynasty, Minzhen painting, paper version, ink pen, 97.3 cm vertical, 31 cm horizontal.
The picture depicts a petite woman looking down and contemplating in the elegant courtyard. Banana and Maiden are sketched with thick, thin and inflexible lines, complementing each other in techniques with the thick and chapped lake stone, which enriches the visual effect of the picture and makes the simple composition appear full and full of layers. There is a trace of sadness between the eyebrows and eyes of the ladies, which is consistent with the interest of “quiet and elegant” pursued by the literati painters in the late Qing Dynasty in the creation of the ladies’ paintings, and has distinctive characteristics of the times
Self-title: “Imitate the painting of the six monks in the Tang Dynasty. The painting of Minzhen in Zhengzhai”. Seal “Minzhen’s seal” (white text seal), “Zhengzhai” (Zhu text seal)
