There is no specific writing time for this book, but from the style of the book, it should be written by Jiang in his later years. As one of the four calligraphers during the Kangxi period in the early Qing Dynasty, Jiang Chenying was especially good at regular script in his later years. The calligraphy style of this book is beautiful and vigorous. It was taken from Yu, Chu and Ou in the Tang Dynasty, and it also incorporates the meaning of the Han and Wei dynasties. As Huang Yi commented, “Enquiry is the authentic of regular script, which is rare.”
