This picture reads: “Kangxi Dinghai Changxia Changchun Zhilu painted the imitation of Ni Huangxiaojing in Yiweng’s old family. Wang Weiyan Jingming.” The seal is “Jingming Seal” and “Jiangdong”. “Kangxi Dinghai” is the forty-sixth year of Kangxi (1707), and the author was 40 years old
According to the artist’s style, this should be a small landscape painted with colors imitating the characteristics of Ni Zan and Huang Gongwang’s paintings. Specifically, the painter used Ni Zan’s composition on both sides of the river to draw houses and stones in the close view and mountains and trees in the distant view. The loose strokes and thick lines are modeled on Huang Gongwang’s painting. Therefore, this small landscape combining the characteristics of the two houses is matched with ochre color, which makes it quite ancient and unique.
