Zheng Xie Zhulan Stone Map Axis

[Zheng Xie’s bamboo orchid and stone map axis]

The bamboo orchid and stone map axis, Qing Dynasty, Zheng Xie’s painting, paper, ink, 123 cm vertically and 65.4 cm horizontally
The picture depicts the vibrant scene of orchids and bamboos on the cliffs, which are not afraid of the dangerous environment. The composition is ingenious and unconventional. The monotonous plane of the stone wall is broken by orchid and bamboo, which makes the picture rich and changeable. At the same time, the flat stone wall also unifies the miscellaneous orchids and bamboos, making the picture neat in the chaos. It is the representative work of Zheng Xie’s bamboo and orchid stone paintings
This picture is composed of seven rules. It exhorts friends to be as open-minded as orchids and bamboos, which are called gentlemen, and “accommodate hundreds of thousands of ends”. The signature of the fund: “Brother Shaoyan Laoyin teaches painting, and brother Banqiao Zheng Xie.” The seal of “Zheng Xie’s seal” and “Yangzhou Xinghua people” are both sealed. Zhu Wenjian collected and printed two parts: “No room to live in” and “The owner of Snow Wave Room will verify the authenticity after 40 years”.
