The Picture of the Battle of Pingding Taiwan • The Picture of the Opera of Qingyin Pavilion, Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, paper edition, colored, 55.6 cm long and 91.1 cm wide
Painted by Qing court painters, it depicts the scene where Emperor Qianlong rewarded triumphant soldiers in the Fushou Garden of Chengde Mountain Resort after the pacification of Taiwan’s Lin Shuangwen Uprising. The picture truly depicts the grand opera performance in the Qingyin Pavilion Theater in the park at that time. The scale of the Qingyin Pavilion is the same as that of the Changyin Pavilion in the Palace of Tranquil Life in the Palace. From the image data of this large theater, we can know the situation of the palace watching the theater in such large theater at that time. Emperors and empresses of the Qing Dynasty often gave the princes and ministers to attend the opera together. The audience was in the east and west corridors on both sides of the stage. There are two rows of small kang tables under each corridor, two in front and two in each row, and palm blankets are laid on the ground for the sitting place of princes and ministers. During the hearing of the opera, the emperor and queen also rewarded the fruit and food prepared by the Maoqin Hall, as well as Ruyi, purse, porcelain bottles and other items
