[Hongyang Cave]
Hongyang Cave, late Qing Dynasty, silk version, color setting, 56 cm vertically and 56 cm horizontally
Also known as Meng Liang’s Robbing the Bones. Meng Liang was ordered by Yang Yanzhao to steal the skeleton of Yang’s father from Hongyang Cave in Liao State. Jiao Zan secretly followed Ji to help. Because of the darkness in the cave, Meng Liang mistook him for an enemy and chopped Jiao to death with an axe. After finding it, he was shocked and regretful, so he entrusted the remains to the veteran Cheng Xuan to take back to Song Camp and commit suicide outside the cave. Yang Yanzhao was deeply grieved at the news and died of serious illness. Beijing Opera, Qin Opera Opera, Han Opera and other operas have this repertoire.
