This is a copy of Zhao Mengfu’s portrait of the Arhat in red in 1304, the eighth year of Dade in the Yuan Dynasty. Zhao Mengfu’s original painting was once put into the residence of Tibet, with the imperial inscription of the 22nd year of Qianlong’s reign (1757) on it. The dynamic expression of the characters, the arrangement of trees and stones, and the style of the strokes in the picture are strictly imitated from the original paintings. The strokes are exquisite and the colors are ancient and elegant
