At the bottom right of this page, it is written by Ren Bonian. The seal is “Ren Yi’s private seal” and the white seal. The seal in the collection is: “Qian Jingtang identified the authentic work of Ren Bonian.”
There are many reporters in this picture, all of whom are Ge Huaiying (i.e. Ge Zhonghua), including Hu Gongshou, Shen Jingcheng, Yan Xinhou, Gu Deyuan and Xu Dayou
According to Ge Huaiying’s postscript, “The first month of the Guiyou Spring is a small independent shadow written by Ren Bonian in Shanyin”, it can be seen that this painting should be painted in the 12th year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1873), when Ren Bonian was 34 years old
This picture is a full-body portrait of Ge Zhonghua in light colors. According to the title “Zhonghua is 27 years old, Xiao Jing” in Delin’s official script, we can know the age of the image owner at that time. In addition, according to Ge Huaiying’s postscript, Ge is a lonely scholar who has an empty ambition but has no ambition. Fortunately, his “heart is happy to enter the Zen”. The face of the figure is painted with light ochre and slightly haloed, with a slight contrast between light and dark, highlighting the three-dimensional effect of the face. The protagonist is wearing a long shirt, holding a light blue flower in his right hand in front of his chest, with a calm attitude. The clothing pattern is described with the line of “nail head and mouse tail”, which is rigid and soft, flowing freely and rhythmic, making the characters static and dynamic.
