[Zhu Da’s Painting in the Autumn Forest]

The Painting in the Autumn Forest, Qing Dynasty, Zhu Da’s painting, paper version, ink brush, 197.5 cm vertically and 57.3 cm horizontally
Payment: “donkey”. There are two sides of the seal: “one word year” and “one word year”
The picture shows that the withered trees are shrouded in the cold of late autumn. On the still water of a lake, only Gao Shi is seen fishing alone. The empty and lonely artistic conception contains the author’s infinite yearning for the hometown of the Ming Dynasty. There is no model year in this picture. According to the word “donkey”, it is inferred that this picture is Zhu Da’s work at the age of 57 (1682). During this period, his landscape paintings were also deeply influenced by Ni Zan, Huang Gongwang of the Yuan Dynasty, and Dong Qichang of the Ming Dynasty, but did not form their own characteristics. The composition of this painting is based on the layout of Ni Zan on both banks of the river, and shows the bleak and bleak scenery with simple and clear images. The mountain stone painting method is taken from Huang Gongwang. Its outline is outlined by sharp and hard lines, and the stone surface is slightly chapped and dyed, which is not lost in the casual and elegant taste. The overall style of painting shows Dong Qichang’s artistic style of being bright, clean, elegant and beautiful
